The Icon Sacred Boot: Walk Softy & Ride a Fast Motorcycle

They don’t look like motorcycle boots.  And they sure as hell don’t feel like motorcycle boots.  You’ll feel more like Peter Pan than Pussy Galore (‘n Boots), but make no mistake, the Icon Sacred Low boot has what it takes to keep your tootsies safe.  I know what you’re thinking…just look at ‘em.  Icon? No way.  My other pair of Icon boots couldn’t be more in-your-face-bad-ass (sort of what they’re known for, right?).  Well, Icon is also known for knowing what customers want and dammit, they want something comfortable!  So, here you go:

The Icon Sacred Low Boot. $120 bucks. It's like a sock with armor.

Yeah, they’re dainty, but don’t let that fool you.  They really are a motorcycle boot:  top-grain leather, steel chank, metal heel plate, locking YKK zippers, but what you’re really going to remember is how they feel.  They feel like socks.  Seriously.  Not only did I feel like I could take a long walk in these things, but I felt more of a visceral connection with my bike.  Like suddenly, my feet were tools, better equipped to respond to my motorcycle.  Not exactly prehensile…maybe podextrous.  (And yes, I may have made that word up).

Motorcycle, I feel you!

The Icon Sacred Low boots give your feet the feel of an amazing grip (without opposable thumbs).

I really didn’t expect these little things to hold up well on a motorcycle, but they did.  The low profile has plenty of room for, shall we say, ‘shapely’ ankles, the lining is smooth and seamless (think no peas under the mattress), and the metal shank (I know it’s in there) doesn’t wear on bony parts.  Translation:  they’re comfortable.

Though I like a little more glam in my footwear (ok, a lot more), these boots have a certain understated elegance.  The leather is very high-quality, and the top-of-foot textured pattern is a nice fashion accent that is actually designed to hold up to shift-wear.  The heel plate is similarly understated.  There is a tall version of these boots, which look pretty intriguing in their sort of refined gothness, but what I don’t get is the brown option:

Uhh...naaahhht really sure about the brown...

Anyway, if your clunky gear feels more like a barrier between you and your bike than a buffer between you and the pavement, these are the boots for you.  Or, if your shtick is to walk softly and ride a fast motorcycle, these boots are definitely made for you!
