Win Some!
It’s true. If you look around, there’s all kinds of free stuff to win on the internet. But if you’re like me, handing over your e-mail address to a slew of hungry marketers better offer something worth getting spammed over, right? Here are three chances to win prizes I think are worthy of whatever in-box invasion might follow. See if you agree:
1. The Bell Helmets/RSD Star Treatment Contest.
Ok, I actually had a dream that I won this contest. Roland Sands came to my house to give my bike a makeover, and I was mortified because I was out of beer. He was every bit the irritated, L.A. celeb’ at first, but then quickly adapted to my expansive (but beerless) bar, and went on to redesign some old beater of a cafe-racer I owned. We totally bonded. Well, who says dreams can’t come true? Tell Bell and RSD in a hundred words or less why you think you should win, and you might just be the lucky SOB grand prize winner who’s bike gets turned into an RSD custom, then gets flown out to LA to take it for a spin with Roland himself. Bring beer. What’s that? Not familiar with Roland Sands Designs? Good lord. Welcome to motorcycling, and read about one of the most famous custom bike designers here. Of course, kick-ass Bell Star helmets are prizes, too. For contest details, click here, or check this video:

2. ProItalia Red Cross Raffle to win a Steve McQueen Triumph (I know, not really a contest).
I don’t have the attention span for golf, but if I did, I’d know that my odds of hitting a hole in one were about 1 in 3,500. In other words, I’d have to take a swing at 3,500 holes before I’d actually sink the thing in one shot. That’s like 195 separate games…975 hours…almost 41 strait days playing golf non-stop, 24/7. Or, you could be long-gone on this boss motorcycle. In celebration of adding the British brand to it’s all-Italian lineup, California dealer ProItalia is raffling off this Steve McQueen Special Edition Triumph Bonneville for only $10 bucks a ticket. Proceeds benefit the American Red Cross, and a max of just 3,500 tickets will be sold. If you’re like the b’jillions of people who dig pastel polyester and whacking a ball with a stick all day, you’ll be cool with these odds. Me, I prefer a little more adrenaline. I figure ten tickets will bring my odds down to 1 in 350; about the same as the odds of getting a German Chocolate cake with an inferno of candles on top in any given year. 3. New Orleans VIP Getaway
AMA Pro RoadRacing has just announced a big, easy giveaway to the Big Easy. AMA Pro RoadRacing sponsor Motorcycle-Superstore.com, and promotor M1 Powersports are giving away an all-expenses-paid trip to the final round of the 2012 GEICO Motorcycle AMA Pro Road Racing season, the Triumph Big Kahuna New Orleans at NOLA Motorsports Park, October 5-7th. No, not just a pair of tickets, an actual trip: round-trip air, 4-nights hotel, VIP passes to the 3-day race event, ground transportation, and more race-related special-access stuff than I can mention. Though I’m still chapped at M1 for their cheesy, sexist T&A shots used in their FB caption contest and the summarily ignored please-quit-doing-this e-mail I sent, I give them two thumbs-up for putting together a helluva prize for one lucky race fan (and her pal).
